Rua Dom Antão de Almada, 1D1100-197 Lisboa
Established in 1890 as a slaughterhouse to supply the old Figueira Square market, is the only one that retains the «manteigaria» (butter shop) title, reminding us of a time when butter was sold by weight. Inside, with hams hanging from the ceiling, they sell meat products, cheese, wine, fruit, nuts... The cod section deserves a special highlight, with its walls and counter made of hard limestone, where cod from Iceland and Norway is piled up. The service is «old-school», you can sample everything before buying. Also has a stall at Mercado da Ribeira.
