The Asian hotel chain Six Senses opened its first spa resort in Europe last year, more specifically in the Douro valley, bringing new life to a 19th-century manor house. The interiors of this palatial house were superbly renovated and are now brighter, evoking the estate’s wine-making vocation. The outdoor pool is one of the most beautiful in the country.
